:60 spot - YouTube
In April I had the opportunity to write, produce, and direct a connected TV spot for Optima Academy Online. The concept for the spot was based on a high-performing static ad, "Homeschool Without Stress."
I pitched six different concepts to the marketing team, ranging in tone from aspirational to funny. Funny won out.
The story was simple: Mom and Dad can't keep up with their daughter's increasingly-difficult cirriculum and experience a series of comic mishaps while attempting to conceal their confusion.
After a troubled pre-production chasing locations, coordinating schedules, and finalizing contracts, the shoot went smoothly and we were able to wrap in 8 of the scheduled 10 hour day.
As of this post, the :60 second version of the spot (which also produced 4 additional, :30 second versions) has a quarter-million views on OAO's YouTube channel with metrics indicating 90% of viewers watched a minimum of :54 seconds. The spot is also airing on streaming services via Awarity and those impressions are hovering around 25,000.
